Description
The Taylor’s & Company 1885 High Wall Sporting is a single-shot falling-block rifle inspired by John Browning’s classic 19th-century design, chambered in the traditional 38-55 Winchester cartridge. Built by Pedersoli in Italy and imported by Taylor’s & Company, this Sporting variant pairs a long octagon barrel with a classic walnut stock for an authentic old-world silhouette aimed at Cowboy Action Shooting, hunting, and traditional target work.
At its heart is a color case hardened steel receiver feeding a break-open falling-block action and a single-stage trigger for clean, predictable breaks. The 30″ octagon barrel is broached rifled in a 1:12″ twist from high-carbon steel and finished in matte blue. Iron sights consist of a dovetail-mounted blade front and a buckhorn rear, with the tang drilled and tapped to accept an optional peep or tang sight for long-range precision.
The walnut stock is finished in a rich brown tone and shaped as a fixed full-length stock with a pistol grip and checkered forend, complemented by a cheek piece and a large butt plate for comfortable shooting off the bench. The right-hand layout, 48.81″ overall length, and 11.67 lb weight give the rifle a steady, traditional feel that suits Cowboy Action Shooting, deer hunting, and classic target disciplines alike. This is a current-production, brand-new firearm.
