The Smith & Wesson Model 940 is a J-frame revolver chambered in 9mm Luger and built around S&W’s classic concealed-carry formula. It is a double-action-only revolver with a snag-free concealed hammer, a 5-shot cylinder, and a compact 2.17″ barrel that makes it ideal for pocket or inside-the-waistband carry.
The stainless steel barrel, cylinder, and frame provide excellent corrosion resistance and a clean, understated look. Overall length is just 6.63″ and the revolver weighs 1.44 lbs, keeping it light enough for all-day carry without sacrificing the shootability that defines the J-frame line. The barrel uses a 1:10″ right-hand twist for consistent bullet stabilization with 9mm defensive loads.
Sights are set up for defensive use, with a Tritium XS night front paired with a dovetailed U-notch rear for fast target acquisition in low light. The grip is a Black Hogue rubber overmold with finger grooves, providing a secure, natural hold and effective recoil management.
