The Mossberg Patriot bolt-action rifle is paired with a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40mm scope to deliver a ready-to-hunt package in .243 Winchester. Chambered for one of the most versatile American deer and varmint cartridges, this Patriot is built around a 22″ fluted barrel with a match crown muzzle and a 1:10″ twist for stable bullet flight with common .243 bullet weights.
The Patriot action features Mossberg’s patented LBA (Lightning Bolt Action) adjustable trigger, user-settable from roughly 2 to 7 pounds, paired with a crossbolt safety at the rear of the receiver for intuitive thumb operation. The receiver is machined from stainless steel and finished in a non-reflective matte blued finish, and the rifle ships with no iron sights; it is set up from the factory to mount the included optic on its integral Weaver-style bases.
A fixed black synthetic stock keeps weight to a handy 7.50 lbs, with an overall length of 42.75″. The detachable box magazine holds 5+1 rounds of .243 Win, and the right-hand configuration suits the majority of shooters. The fluted barrel trims a bit of front-end weight while speeding cooling between strings.
The bundled Vortex Crossfire II 3-9×40 scope gives the package a versatile magnification range for wooded deer stands and open-range target work, and it mounts directly to the rifle’s bases right out of the box. This combination is well suited as an affordable, accurate first centerfire rifle or a lightweight second gun for established hunters.
