Description
The Magnum Research BFR (Big Frame Revolver) Extra Large in 30-30 Winchester is a heavy-duty single-action hunting revolver built on Magnum Research’s largest revolver frame. It pairs a 6-shot cylinder with a 7.50″ cut-rifled barrel to deliver the kind of accuracy expected from a much longer barrel while keeping the one-handed handling profile of a revolver.
Construction is all stainless steel, dressed in a brushed finish across the frame, cylinder, and barrel for a uniform look throughout. The revolver weighs roughly 5 lbs and stretches to a 15″ overall length, giving it the sight radius and muzzle weight of a short brush gun. An exposed hammer provides positive single-action cocking, and the controls are deliberately simple for use in the field.
Sighting is by a fixed front blade paired with an adjustable rear sight. The grip frame is dressed with black Hogue rubber monogrip panels that absorb felt recoil from full-power 30-30 loads. Chambered for the same cartridges used in countless lever-action rifles, the BFR Extra Large is purpose-built for handgun hunters pursuing big game in heavy cover, and it doubles as a faithful companion to a matching 30-30 lever-action.
