The Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x40mm riflescope is a purpose-built hunting optic designed, machined, and assembled in the USA. Sitting in Leupold’s workhorse VX-Freedom line, it pairs a classic 3-9x magnification range with a 40mm objective and a 1″ main tube, making it a versatile fit for everything from whitetail woods to open-country rifle setups.
At the core of the optic is the Hunt-Plex reticle, a non-illuminated hunting reticle set in the second focal plane (SFP) with MOA adjustments. The reticle stays the same size throughout the magnification range, giving hunters a simple, fast-aiming hold at any power. A 150-yard parallax setting keeps the reticle on target at typical hunting distances without the need for a side focus knob, keeping the scope’s profile clean and lightweight.
The scope’s matte black finish is built around a 6061-T6 aluminum tube with scratch-resistant lenses. Leupold’s Twilight Light Management System pushes more usable light to the shooter’s eye during the low-light dawn and dusk windows when most big-game movement happens, helping extend your effective hunting hours. The optic is 100% waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof.
The VX-Freedom offers a field of view of 13.60 to 33.10 ft at 100 yds across the magnification range, a generous 3.70″ to 4.20″ of eye relief, an overall length of 12.40″, and a weight of just 12.20 oz. The 1″ maintube is compatible with a wide variety of standard Leupold and aftermarket rings and bases, making this scope an easy upgrade for nearly any hunting rifle.
