Description
The Hornady CX (Copper alloy eXpanding) is a monolithic hunting bullet from Hornady’s CX product line, purpose-built for handloaders who want a single-piece copper projectile that holds together on impact. Machined from a copper alloy with no separate jacket and no lead core, this 6.5mm (.264″) bullet delivers deep penetration and 95% weight retention, making it a strong choice for hunting applications where reliable terminal performance matters.
At 130 grains, this CX bullet carries a G1 ballistic coefficient of .489 and a sectional density of .266, giving handloaders the trajectory stability and downrange energy retention expected from a modern premium hunting projectile. Hornady recommends a 1:8″ twist rate for proper stabilization in 6.5mm hunting rifle barrels, covering popular cartridges like the 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 6.5-284 Norma, and other 6.5mm hunting rounds.
Because the CX is built entirely from copper alloy, it is well suited for use in areas where non-lead ammunition is required or preferred by the hunter. Each box contains 50 loose 6.5mm projectiles ready for handloading. Case quantity is 25 boxes per case (1,250 bullets).
